No worries, it’s actually very easy do to! If you’re on iOS 9 you won’t even need an app to do that, and neither will you need to jailbreak your iPhone.

Block any phone number on your iPhone

To block a contact’s number on your iPhone, simply visit your contacts list and select the contact. On the bottom of your screen you will see a button saying Block this Caller. Once you press that button, go ahead and select Block Contact from the pop-up menu and you’re done! Having done that, you won’t be getting calls, text messages and FaceTime requests from that number ever agin, unless you decide to unblock it in the future. This method works across all carriers and iOS 9 devices. It will work no matter if you are with At&t, Verizon, Sprint or any other mobile carrier. To find a list of all the numbers you already blocked, follow these steps:

Go to your iPhone’s Settings Scroll down and select Phone In the Calls section, select Blocked

If you need to unblock a number in the future, go to the contact and press Unblock This Caller. It’s easy as that!

Will the blocked contact know?

So what happens when you block a number? Will the other person know that he/she has been blocked? To make sure I actually ran a test myself. Turns out, that the other person won’t know. However, the blocked caller will be redirected to your voicemail after a waiting a while.

Block your own Caller ID

Want to prevent other people from seeing your own number? There are multiple ways to do that:

Block Called ID for select phone numbers

To block your own number from appearing on the other person’s screen when calling them, add “*67” before the phone number you’re calling. This method works on At&t, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. You can do this on a call-by-call basis, or simply add this to the contact itself. Please note that Caller ID blocking doesn’t work with 911 and other toll-free numbers.
